Best movie of all time? The Shawshank Redemption. Best prison? Ohio State Reformatory- where The Shawshank Redemption was filmed, duh! So as a Christmas present, my husband got us a ghost tour there! While the other 83 people in attendance hunted for spirits in the dark with their tracking equipment, (as my husband affectionately hummed the X-Files theme- which is one of the best shows of all time, don’t get me wrong… not to mention I’m not blaming anyone for legitimately searching…) ANYWAY, the movie rules and the prison was slated to be knocked down. THEN, they filmed Shawashank, Air Force One, etc. and now it’s like a national monument or whatever. SO IT GETS TO STAY INTACT! Basically we had an awesome time. And while there were no real ghost experiences on our end, it was definitely creepy and spooky, and people got pissed when we were taking photos while they were sitting there quietly even though I guarantee our flashlights would not have scared away their ghosts. Cause shouldn’t the ghosts be there regardless?
Fine. So this isn’t in Michigan. It’s Mansfield, Ohio. But I’m from Michigan, and it’s less than a 3 hour drive from the Detroit area, which is a lot shorter of a drive than it is to a lot of other places within the state! I had a kick-ass time going here and taking these photos and would recommend you go as well :)
